Nairobi’s Sikh Union (est 1920 as Khalsa Union) honouring Kipchoge Keino (b. 1940) following the 1968 Mexico Olympics where he won the 1500 metres gold medal and 5000 meters silver medal. Kenya’s Sikh hockey team travelled together as one contingent and trained together in the athletes village there.

Avtar Singh Sohal (b. 1938, Nairobi), Kenya’s living hockey legend and a very close friend of Kipchoge, affirmed with him that he would win their country a gold medal, and win he did!
