Telepost Sacco, previously known as Posta Sacco, was established in 1969 as a welfare organization for the subordinate staff of the then Kenya Posts & Telecommunications Corporation (KP&TC). Over the years, it has expanded significantly, becoming a prominent player in the Sacco industry in terms of membership and share capital.
Initially, the Sacco’s total membership was less than 100, with a minimum monthly contribution of Kshs 20 and a registration fee of Kshs 5. Today, the minimum monthly contribution is Kshs 2,000 for normal shares, Kshs 500 for education shares, and Kshs 300 for the benevolent fund. The Sacco adopted its current name in 1999 following the restructuring of KP&TC into the Communication Commission of Kenya, Telkom Kenya, and Postal Corporation of Kenya.
